Weekend Update - Our Fashionista

It was a fast, low-key weekend. On Friday, we did grocery shopping before Little Miss came home. Then, we just kind of hung out the rest of the evening. Friday, I came home with a little treat for Little Miss - butterfly wings. They've been on her person all weekend.
On Saturday, Husband woke up with Little Miss and then I got up for breakfast. Husband went golfing while Little Miss and I walked to the library. Little Miss picked her own outfit while I showered and got ready. She picked her Jets shirt ("Because I love the Jets!") and then matching pants. Except they were pj pants. She had her dress up shoes on, but we changed to sneakers before leaving the house. After the library, we came home, ate lunch and took a nice, long nap which was much-needed for both of us. After, Husband came home and rested as he wasn't feeling well. Little Miss had dinner and went to bed and then Husband and I relaxed on the couch.
On Sunday, Husband woke up with Little Miss while I lounged a bit. Then, we had breakfast together. After, the three of us picked up Brother-in-Law for some water ice at Rita's. Then, we dropped Brother-in-Law back off home while we head to my parents. Little Miss did her homework and then played with Nephew while I helped organize my stuff for an upcoming tag sale for my parents. We had dinner there and then head home to do bath and bedtime.
That concluded another weekend. It was fun though Little Miss's emotions were at the extreme all weekend. Her original looks are all documented here. She does have a unique sense of style.

Weekend Update - My Girl Wants to Party All the Time

Last weekend, we had a quiet Friday - grocery shopping and couch time. On Saturday, Husband woke up with Little Miss and then drove to New Jersey for a hockey game with friends. So, Little Miss and I had a good relaxing morning and then went to a birthday party. After the party (above with her cousin), we went back to the birthday girl's house for some play time. Then, we drove home to beat the bad storm. We had a very quiet evening as it was a no nap day for Little Miss and she was exhausted.

On Sunday, we slept late (well, late for a toddler). We had a big breakfast. Little Miss and I shared 3 eggs and cheese (though she ate the majority of them). Then, Sister, Nephew and Sister's Boyfriend came over. We were going to a baseball game, but the weather was awful so we opted to go to the mall where we had lunch and the kids played. After another no nap day, Little Miss fell asleep in the car, but she woke up when we got home because Husband was coming home. So, homework, bath and bed (our usual Sunday routine) went down and ended another weekend.

Not much planned for this weekend so hoping to have another nice weekend.

Books Read in April 2012

  1. The Descendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings
  2. The Duke's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley (NOTE: This is book 4 in the Highland Pleasures series. You can find the order here.)
  3. Happy Endings by Jane Lynch
  4. About That Night by Julie James (NOTE: This is part of the FBI/US Attorney series. The order can be found here.)
  5. Time Out by Jill Shalvis
  6. No Longer a Gentleman by Mary Jo Putney (NOTE: This is part of the The Lost Lords series. The order can be found here.)
I kept my reading momentum from last month and read a lot in the early part of the month, and a mixture of books. The Descendants was good. I liked it more than the movie though I missed George Clooney and the beautiful scenery. I went old school and read the paperback. The romance novels were all ebooks this month, all by my favorite authors so they were all enjoyable. Happy Accidents was from the library, and I really liked it. Jane Lynch has a great voice and I liked how she chose to tell her story. I'm currently reading my book club book which I doubt I'll finish before the end of the month. Then, I'm excited for Tuesday's Nora Roberts's release. I'm really enjoying her latest series about the Inn Boonesboro. More about that next month!

Movies Watched in April 2012

  1. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
  2. Young Adult
  3. Parks and Recreation
  4. X-Men: First Class
  5. Monte Carlo
  6. javascript:void(0);
  7. Martha Marcy May Marlene
  8. The Lucky One
This month, I got my money's worth out of Netflix. I caught Young Adult and Martha Marcy May Marlene on DVD. I watched Parks and Recreation on Instant Play. I recorded X-Men and Monty Carlo off of cable (though Netflix also sent me X-Men the same day I watched it because of poor queue management on my part). Then, due to a vodka-induced haze, I agreed to see The Lucky One in the theater. I really liked Martha Marcy May Marlene. I thought the suspense was subtle but well done and it stayed with me though I can see how a more traditional moviegoer would be frustrated with the ending. Otherwise, a moderate month - no stand outs but no giant wastes of time.  Oh, if I happen to watch more before Monday, the official end of the month, I'll come back and edit (for instance, I started watching Take Me Home Tonight but never finished and am expecting a new DVD in the mail but not sure what it will be).

Making Things Up

Recently, Little Miss saw Husband without his shirt.  The details are fuzzy.  He was just getting up, getting ready for work or bed.  Either way, he was in shorts, and it was before he put his shirt on.  She looked at him and exclaimed, "Daddy!  Why are you shirt naked?"

Weekend Update - Sunny Days

Last weekend was a lot of fun! On Friday, it was a quiet night. On Saturday, we all woke up and got ready and went to the playground. Little Miss had a great time running, climbing, and trying out everything. You'll notice she has a tiny scrape. She took a tumble earlier in the week when she learned what happens when your shoelaces come untied. It mostly looks like a little dimple rather than a scrape. You can't see the bruising under her chin which has faded quickly.
On Saturday afternoon, the In-Laws came to pick up Little Miss and take her to a local carnival. She rode rides and had a fun and then had a sleepover over there while Husband watched the hockey playoffs and I went out to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday.  We had a delicious dinner at Rosa Mexicano and then went to Poste for cocktails. It was such a beautiful night to enjoy the outdoor patio bar. Below is a picture of the birthday girl and me.
On Sunday, Husband and I slept gloriously late and then I was lazy until Little Miss came home. Dinner, bath and homework on the agenda this evening and then the end of Spring Break.

Thanks, Glee!

Those words won't come out of my mouth much. I have a love/hate relationship with Glee. However, one of the best decisions the show has made in awhile is having guest star Matthew Bomer on. He was a former Sexy Friday feature.  Sue talking about how she would hunt down Alan Mencken so he could be a Disney prince was hilarious, and darned if he didn't have the twinkle in his eye and smile to pull it off.  Anyway, his guest appearance made for a yummy Tuesday night.

Under the Weather? Here's Some Advice.

I just wanted to say that this has become a standard response and advice whenever anyone's sick. I wasn't feeling well recently and told my mom who quipped, "Don't poop your pants!"

Weekend Update - Easter

Last week, Little Miss had an Easter parade at school.  Husband was off of work and went to see it.  She dressed up and walked around the hallways.
The Saturday before Easter, we dyed eggs.  Plus, Little Miss is still young enough that I can make her wear her flower headband she's had since she was a baby.  I wonder how long I can still get her to wear it.
Easter was great fun with my parents, Sister, and Nephew.  The kids had an Easter egg hunt and played nicely together.

Sidenotes:
  1. Now, backing up, we had a nice family tradition of watching Phineas & Ferb on Fridays. We were watching last Friday and this scene came on. Little Miss was so sad that Balloony was shot. She was inconsolable for almost an hour. She did stop crying at the end of the show because Balloony turns out to be ok, but she was so very sad. So, that was a rough Friday night.
  2. On Saturday, Little Miss was congested before bed and then woke up and got sick all over the place. So, very late on Saturday, we were doing laundry, taking a very late bath and consoling an upset Little Miss.
  3. On Easter, we decided not to go to church after such a rough evening, but Little Miss was perfectly fine. She was up early bringing all of her Easter presents from the Easter Bunny into our bed. She was very pleased with all of her presents including her own kitchen tools and a Rangers jersey. Little Miss later was upset her jersey was too big (it's a 4-7 but practically fits me).  She declared that the Easter Bunny didn't do what she wanted and bring her a 4 size.  Silly Rabbit, doesn't he know Little Miss is a 4 size?
All in all, a great Easter as Little Miss was spoiled by all.

Weekend Update - Bunnyland

Two weekends ago, it was glorious.  Little Miss had an unofficial class trip.  We met her preschool at Butler's Orchard for Bunnyland. This is where we go for Halloween and it's basically the same setup but with Spring activities.  We went all out, too.  Little Miss got to run around, jump in the jumping castle, slide down the huge slides, and hang out with all her friends from school.  The weather was mild, too.  We brought our lunch and had a picnic.
She got her hand painted.  She wanted to get her hand painted and informed the college co-ed that she wanted her hand painted with a butterfly in pink and purple with yellow eyes, nose and mouth.  Then, she got to pet chicks and bunnies.  She rode a pony, rode the hayride, fed a goat and participated in an egg hunt.  When we left, she got a goodybag with a cookie, little toys, stickers and an apple.  Darned if the kid didn't eat the entire apple on the way home (before falling fast asleep).
The next day, she went to the pool with Husband while I drove to my parents' house for the afternoon.  My mom and I ran errands and the weekend came to a quick close.

Books Read in March 2012

  1. Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb (NOTE: This is #34 in the In Death series. You can find the order in which to read here.)
  2. Only Mine by Elizabeth Lowell (NOTE: This is book 3 of a 4 in the "Only" series. You can find the order here.)
  3. Lost and Found by Jacqueline Sheehan
  4. Serendipity by Carly Phillips (NOTE: This is the first book of the Serendipity series. The order can be found here.)
  5. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
Most of these books were read right at the end. All were really good actually. Lost and Found was my book club pick this month and was cute. Serendipity is from the library and has me really wanting to read the next book in the series. The last by Mindy Kaling was really hilarious and made me think I'm Mindy Kaling's older sister somehow except Korean and, you know, not as talented.

Movies Watched in March 2012

  1. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
  2. Friends with Kids
  3. Beginners
  4. The Hunger Games"
  5. Mad Men
  6. Sherlock
  7. Luther
Let's see. This month, I saw The Lorax with Little Miss in the theater, and she really enjoyed it. I saw Friends with Kids and The Hunger Games with a friend. I rented Beginners on DVD. Husband and I did a full rewatch of Seasons 1-4 of Mad Men before the Season 5 premiere. Sherlock and Luther continues my British tv viewing. After finishing Doctor Who, I needed more. So, I watched the very few available Sherlock episodes available on Netflix Instant Play and have started watching Luther. I'm enjoying both, but both are a bit dark. Bit month for me and especially big because I managed to read a lot as well.

What We've Watched - 2020

I forgot a bunch!  So, just to round out 2020, here we go. Let's see... I watched Enola Holmes on Netflix which I found adorable, and I...
