What was your first CD?

I read this article which mentions Lady Gaga's first CD purchased with her own money. I was horrible. I totally refused to make the conversion to CDs. I loved my little tape player. However, eventually, I just had to bite the bullet. My first CD was The Cranberries Everybody Else Is Doing It. Oh, the irony. Hm, I think that's irony. Stupid Alanis Morisette has ruined the concept forever. I am not sure I still have the CD. It's actually doubtful, but if I do, it's purely for sentimental reasons.

George Micheal's Listen Without Prejudice. It was a really good CD, and I'd probably still listen to it but all of our CD's got stolen back in 1998.

I also got Mariah Carey's first CD (which I think was just called Mariah Carey) and Billy Joel's Storm Front at the same time, but the George Michael one is the one I set out to buy that day, so I consider it the first.

We didn't have a CD player so it wasn't until college that I got my first CD and then I couldn't even play it on anything. I found a gold limited edition signed copy of Amy Grant's Lead Me On CD at a garage sale and picked it up for $1.

I only went to CD when I could no longer find what I wanted on cassette, so that was probably around 1997 or 1998. I had a store order (before the internet to do all that fun stuff was readily available) 2 CDs for me - Honemoon Suite's Greatest Hits and Glass Tiger's Greatest Hits. Still have 'em. Still enjoy 'em. Still know that no one really remembers who they are. Except maybe Naomi since they are Canadian bands. LOL

I think mine was the soundtrack to Sound of Music.
