I know exactly what you mean about The House of Sand and Fog. I felt like I had gone through such an emotional wringer after watching that movie. Never read the book, I was traumatized just watching it.

The Day the Earth Stood Still was awful. It was a rare time I considered walking out of the theater (and had I not still had a bunch of popcorn left to entertain me, I probably would have.)
