Sad Day

RIP Maurice Sendak. 

From my earliest memories, Where the Wild Things Are has been my favorite book. I still have the copy I was given for my fifth birthday. Throughout the rest of my life, I always had that one and a second copy so my original would stay pristine (though, to be honest, it's a bit faded). I won't go into how much I enjoyed the book, but it was a lot. The news of Maurice Sendak's passing this morning has made me incredibly sad. Despite the fact that he was 83 which is not young, it always seems too soon.

The caption above says:  "Inside all of us is a Wild Thing.  'And Max, the king of all wild things, was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.'"
