Can I Have Some Cheese with my Whine?

Today, at lunch, I decided to run quickly to the grocery store and pick up a salad at the salad bar. It's quick and only costs $2.20 (well, $3.20 because I always get the $1 single-serving ice cream). As soon as I pay and am about to leave, a light goes on in my head, and I know that I left my car key in the car. I check my pockets, but I just know. So, the store manager says I can use the phone (as my cell phone is keeping my car key company) while his colleague tells me that, if I leave my car, the store will tow it. My original plan was to just take a cab back to work and have Husband come towards the end of the day with the spare key, and I'd drive him home. So, now, the alternate plan was have Husband drop everything and bring the spare key while I just sit by the car until he gets there. So, I call Husband, give him the good news, and hang out. I eat my ice cream first and then my salad and wait. As luck goes, the moment I popped into Starbucks to use the restroom and get a Tall Shaken Passion Tea Lemonade lightly sweetened, Husband shows up. I drive him back to the Metro and head back to work (I also used the grocery store phone to call work so they knew the deal, and I was pretty close in estimating what time I would be back to work). I swear, I'm living a week full of Mondays.

It was Giant. Pay by the weight. I only get light ingredients.

I guess what I did yesterday was almost as bad. I left my lights on. They don't turn off when the engine does and for some reason I either didn't hear the mad beeping sound the car makes when the door is opened and the lights are on or the car decided not to beep at me.

Either way, the result was the same. My battery was dead and I needed a jump. I didn't have my jumper cables in the back (loaned them to someone last month and haven't picked them up). No one where I worked seemed to have jumper cables. Fortunately, I was able to get in touch with a friend who lives near where I work. She had jumper cables so I was able to get home without husband being any wiser to my bad car day. *sigh*
